For what?

This week was an amazing week in the YSA ward of Charlottesville.  It has been such a blessing to be able to build the kingdom of God.  So I don't know if I told you all about this but at the beginning of the year our mission President, President Wilson.  Made it a goal to double the baptism of the mission.  This is not just a crazy desire that he had this is in accordance with the talk that President Hinckley gave.  We have been working very hard to do this in the Virginia Richmond Mission.  It has been amazing to be able to be a leader and see all the amazing miracles that are occurring in the mission and to see the Lord building up his kingdom.  I know that this work is not about numbers but it's all about people.  Our Heavenly Father is mindful of his children and is constantly trying to help them and to strengthen them.  It is amazing to be able to see all of Gods children making covenants with him at such an alarming rate.  The year is only half way over and we have already hit the half way point as a mission and it's only getting faster and more quick paced.  This work is amazing to be a part of it I know that it is his will.  Another great thing that occurred this week was we were able to see Tawni Pugh be baptized into the YSA ward this weekend.  She was so prepared and ready to hear the gospel.  It was absolutely amazing to see the Lord work through her and see all the changes that she made.  She bore her testimony at the end of her baptism and it was the most powerful amazing thing in the world.  She bore a pure testimony that she knew that the Book of Mormon was true.  There  is nothing better than to see a recent convert with such a strong testimony.  A miracle that happened this week was: We were teaching this guy that had been taught by missionaries for the last nine months. We sat down and began teaching him and everything was beginning to click, it just made sense to him. His friends then came and they wanted to learn as well so they joined our lesson. At the end of it we invited the original guy to be baptized. He accepted and excepted the date september 7. Then the best thing occurred. His friend raised his hand as asked, "Can I come to that and be baptized?" It was amazing! Of course we said yes!! Then the other friend said, "Eh, I've already been baptized." They both jumped in and said, "Man you can be baptized again!" He accepted and they are going to be baptized on September 7. It was such an amazing miracle.

One thing that I received revelation on.  I was reading a talk by Elder Boyd K. Packer, "The Instrument of your mind and the foundation of his character"  This is amazing talk there are so many great things that come up in it.  One thing that really stuck out to me is that Elder Packer said, "Become a product of the Book of Mormon."  This was an interesting thought.  I have taken my own interpretation of that but I invite you to think about how you can become a product of the Book of Mormon.  I have seen within the couple of days that I have tried doing this that the Lord has taught me and shown me how to be a better me.  How to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.  I know that it is through the Book of Mormon that we can draw closer to God than by any other book.  I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it testifies simple of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I know with all my heart that these things are true and that I am doing the work of the Lord.  There is nothing better than this work.  I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.  I love you and hope that you have a great week.  With all my Love from Virginia.

hahaha Yeah that's what happens when you have apple computers in you apartment complex:)

I think that's right Elder McConnell and I were together for about 2 transfers.  So what ever 3 months is.  That's the same with Elder Hill and Elder Fuhriman.  Thank you for sending the stuff.  I actually hasn't received it yet and am trying to find it.  The front office in our apartment complex said they had it but yeah... hopefully I will be able to find it.  I already have a messenger bag.  I went and bought one at Target almost a month ago now.  It's pretty nice I like it a lot.  That is crazy about what happened with Grandpas house.  You better just sell the thing before it gets to expensive that's for sure.  That spiritual directory just has one problem.  THERE'S NO BOOK OF MORMON VERSES!!!!  The Book of Mormon is the greatest book to answer all those needs.  It's crazy how many people just won't give the Book of Mormon a chance and see the amazing things that they can learn and gain from it.  I think it's just simply crazy.  I hope everything is going well with the Fam.  I got Dads picture of the family.  That is crazy how much everyone has changed can you say WEIRD!  Anyway that's really exciting that work is starting for you.  It seems like all you did this summer was work on the yard and go on vacation to California.

This week was a great week in the YSA ward.  We were able to be the Lords hands in preparing one of His children for baptism this coming week end.  Her name is Tawni Pugh.  She is amazing.  She hasn't been very religious all her life until some spanish missionaries knocked on her apartment door and then gave her to us to teach.  This week she told us about a dream that she had.  It was her and her Grandfather lying in a field of wild flowers and then he got up and handed her a book that was face down but she said that it looked a lot like the Book of Mormon.  In fact in looked exactly like the one that she had been reading out of.  It was amazing to see how the people on the other side of the veil are moving this work forward.  It reminds me of the Scripture that is in D&C 128:18 were it says, "For we without them cannot be made perfect; neither can they without us be made perfect."  We together, the living and the dead, will touch every sole with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I think that an interesting thought is what will the spirit world be like when we go there.  Yes we know that there will be spirit paradise and prison but what will paradise be like?  A thought that I believe is true is we will be the Lords missionaries.  We will go about doing the work of the Lord all day everyday.  What a better way to prepare for eternity than to do missionary work now.  I know that missionary work is the greatest joy that you can feel in this life.  There is nothing more precious than inviting others to come unto Christ and them accepting and being changed by the atonement of Christ.  I love this Gospel I know that it is true with all my heart.  Another great miracle that happened yesterday was we were at church and a guy came up to us and started to talk to us.  He's from Utah doing summer sells for Vivint out here in Virginia.  He is dating a non-member and needed to just get away and find piece in his life so what did he do.  He came to the church.  He came to the house of the Lord to be able to be comforted by the greatest comforter there is, the Holy Ghost.  I found this amazing we were then able to give him a blessing and the love that you feel as you give someone you don't even know is amazing.  I know that this church is true and I know that my Savior lives.  I know that the power of the Priesthood is real and that it truly does bring about miracles.  I know simply these things are true.  I love my Savior I can't describe the Joy that comes to you as a missionary.  It's not one that is superficial that the world wants you to have but it's a deep abiding joy that just can't be described.  I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

I hope that you have a great week and that you make sure that you have fun as you work.  Don't let it become a drag or what's the point in doing it?  I thank you so much for all you love, support and prayers for me.  I couldn't do the things that I have been blessed to do in the mission field if it weren't for your support and for the help of my Savior Jesus Christ.  I truly believe that my mission plaque scripture is inspired by God. Charlottesville 

I'm in Charlottesville serving in the YSA ward here.  Yeah YSA work is a little different.  It's kind of nice though being able to sit in sacrament meeting and not have a baby cry.  It's almost haunting.  I didn't know what to do with myself yesterday.  I have a new companion as well.  His name is Elder Denning.  Him and I were able to be in the MTC together we were actually in the same district.  That's kind of fun right?  My new address is 3105 District Ave. Appt. 205 Charlottesville VA, 22901.  Thank you so much for sending me new shirts.  What you could also send is some more of my soccer work out shorts that are long enough that I can still wear my garments and also my other Lehi High soccer shirt.  My Tan one.  My work out clothes are getting a little nasty and I don't see the point in buying new when I have a boat load.

This week was awesome.  I was able to see the hand of the Lord strengthen me as I moved areas.  I really loved Harrisonburg and I am way excited to be able to be here in Charlottesville.  Lydia was able to get baptized this week.  That is awesome I wasn't able to attend the baptism but I'm sure that it was great.  We are teaching this YSA here that is golden.  Her name is Tawni and we were texting her this week.  Just checking up on her.  We asked her how her Book of Mormon reading is going and she said it was good.  We asked her if she knew that it was true.  She said of Course I know it's true I had a dream about it.  That's crazy.  Here's the best part, we then said well the next step is your baptism of Aug 17 and she said yes all I need to do is get over my fear of water but I know that my Heavenly Father will help me.  It was amazing to just be able to see how much faith she has even though she has only been meeting with the missionaries for a couple weeks now.

This week my studies have been focused on the basic and fundamentals of the gospel.  It been amazing to me to be able to read through 1 Nephi 13 and be able to see how important the plain and precious things of the gospel are.  That is the only reason why the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints needed to be restored is so that we can have these plain and precious things in our life.  The gospel often times can take on a daunting look almost scary to participate in but it doesn't have to be that way.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is simple it's beautiful and if we simple just work on the basics then we can find happiness in our life.  I simple know that the fundamentals is all we need .  Nothing more nothing less.  I love this work you don't have to be a genious to do it you just have to be humble and willing to learn from the Father.  I know that my Savior Jesus Christ lives and that he loves each and everyone of us.  I know that he is constant preparing people for the gospel.  Mom I promise you that as you keep inviting Andi to partake of the gospel of Jesus Christ you will see success.  Her heart will be touched and you will see her enter into the waters of Baptism.  I know these things to be true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.  I love you sorry the e-mail is short didn't have a lot of time today.  I hope that you have a great week.  With all my love from Virginia.

I don't have a lot to write this week... I just want to let you know that everything is going well and all is great.  I will be getting transferred this week... Sad it is so hard to be able to say goodbye to all of the people here.  Lydia is getting baptized this week.  Benitas other daughters are getting baptized on the 9 of August.  I love you all so much you mean the world to me.  This work is amazing you are constantly blessed and watched over.  I'm excited to see what is in store for the future and where I will be going.  The song always comes to mind from Varsity All-Stars

WHAT A WEEK!

This week was awesome.  We had a lot of blessings from the Lord this week and a lot of amazing things occur.  Before I get into the good stuff though I will start with the bad news.  Last Monday I was driving the car and I got pulled over by a cop.... I'm not sure how bad the ticket is going to be but it will most likely be pretty bad... I was going 40 in a 25.  I'm sorry.  I need you to put some money into my card account from my back account please.  This ticket has to be payed by the 5 of Aug.  Thank you so much.  I'm sorry that this occurred....  Anyway how was your week?  How is everything going.  It sounds like you all had a lot of fun.  You went to the beach what seems like twice in a month which is exciting.  Dad sent me some pictures they look awesome.  Some shirts would be great if you could send some of those out.  I've tried to get mine to last as long as possible but they're able to stand on their own now so that is fun.  Transfers are coming up pretty quick so that's exciting I will tell you next week if I got transferred or not.  I really don't want to leave Harrisonburg it is such an amazing town I love it so much.  The people here are great.  We have been so blessed in this area and have been able to see so many of Gods children enter into the waters of baptism.  Almost all of them have been African American so we have about quadrupled the African American population in the ward.

This week was great we were able to see so many blessings especially yesterday.  An update on Banita.  She hoping to be able to go to the temple here soon with her one daughter.  Her other daughter is hesitant to be baptized.  We are really trying to work with her and help her to be baptized with the rest of the family.  Lamont is doing amazing.  He should be receiving the Priesthood this next week and then he should be able to baptize his wife on August 2 which will be awesome!  It is so amazing to be able to see all these children of our Heavenly Father enter into a covenant with Him and to receive this happiness.  I know that the Lord is behind this work and that he is always watching over us.  It is so amazing to be able to see all the people that our Heavenly Father has prepared.  Yesterday Elder Fuhriman and I were getting ready to go to church and we had a little bit of time to tract so we prayed that we would be able to find a family to teach.  We then went out and started tracting.  We didn't talk to anyone to promising except for the last door.  Elder Fuhriman was prompted to go to a door and so we went.  We knocked on the door and a young mother came to the door.  She was very busy trying to get her little boy to take a nap.  She said that we could come by later that night. So we did and we began teaching her.  We started talking to her about families.  She said that a family together for ever is ideal and that she wants that so bad.  We then talked about how her family could be together forever and she wanted that so badly.  It was amazing.  We invited her to be baptized of course and she accepted!  We are so excited to help her progress in the gospel and find this truth.  This has been such a blessing to be able to see this miracle.  We then had an amazing experience at church.  We had been trying to get the older lady to church for almost an entire transfer now and nothing was working.  So we finally asked her if she would come to sacrament.  She agreed and so we got her to come, but the best part is that our other investigator is her grandson and he came to randomly... Can you say miracle!!! This work is so amazing it is the best thing in the world.  I love this work.  And a cherry on top.  I'm not sure if you remember the Beasley Family that was baptized in Piedmont but they went to the temple this week.  I will send you a pic.

This week I have really been focusing on how to become better and how we can do that from simply living the gospel of Jesus Christ.  As I have been on my mission we always teach in the first lesson that it is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ that we can receive all the happiness that our Heavenly Father wants us to receive.  As I studied this week I focused on the holy Ghost and what role he plays in finding happiness.  Something that I found very interesting is the holy ghost is our access to God.  Think about that as a baptized member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints you have the opportunity to be able to have constant access to God!  What a blessing.  As I have been on my mission it has been such a blessing to be able to feel the holy Ghost as much a possible and to be able to be guided by him.  It should be our goal as members to be able to be under the constant influence of the holy Ghost.  I know that these things are true and I know that my Redeemer lives and that he loves me.  I know that this church is true and I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.  I know that the Holy Ghost is our access to God and that it is through the Holy Ghost that we can discover all truth I know these things to be true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.  I love you and hope that everything is ok.  I hope to hear from you next week.  With all my hugs and kisses and love from Virginia.

Covenants

OK  I have about 14 min left on the computer.

This week was a great week.  We were able to see so many blessings and miracles this week.  Elder Fuhriman and I just keep being blessed by the Lord every day.  It is such a blessing to be in the service of out Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father.  It is such a blessing to be able to do the things that he would have us do.  This week we were able to help Lydia come to church.  Lydia is an amazing lady.  Lydia is Lamont Robinsons wife, the guy that was just baptized.  She has been having lessons with Lamont and has been reading the scriptures like crazy.  She just has had a really hard time getting to church.  She has heart disease which makes everyday a toss up whether she will be healthy or not.  On top of that she also doesn't like leaving her house.  She feels very uncomfortable any where she goes.  Elder Fuhriman and I set a goal to get her to church this Sunday.  All the lessons that we taught her this week were focused on what she needs to do to further her progression.  We prayed that she would come and then..... she came.  It was the best to be able to see her ready for church.  She loved it to.  The spirit was so strong in sacrament meeting and she now has her eyes set on August 2 to be baptized.  Hopefully Lamont will receive the priesthood so that he could baptize his wife and his kid that we will start teaching this week.  This gospel is so amazing to able to see families accept the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I love this work so much.  It is amazing!!! 

This week something that has really stood out to me are covenants.  There is an amazing talk that was given in this general conference.  It's the first one in the womans general meeting.  I invite you to read it and see what you learn about your covenants.  I know that this church is true and I know that my Savior Jesus Christ lives and that he loves each and everyone of us.  I know that covenants are an essential part of the gospel of Jesus Christ and it is the only way to receive all happiness.  I know all these things to be true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Hurricane

The fourth of July was great.  We were able to have a baptism and to teach a couple of people and prepare them for their baptismal day.  It was such a blessing to be able to receive a package from you.  Thank you so much for all of those things they were great.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the fireworks...but Elder Fuhriman and I will find something. Elder Hill was my companion after Elder McConnell.  That is way sweet to hear all about the member missionary work.  Now we just got to get Andy to be baptized.  That will be a great day.  Sorry about all the expenses last month.  I just haven't done my best with budgeting in this area.  I promise I will do better. 

This week was great we were able to see three people that we have been working with baptized and confirmed.  It was amazing Banita had one of her daughters baptized.  Her name is Aszure.  She was so prepared.  It was amazing to see how quick she gained a testimony.  Banita was so happy.  She is so excited to be able to see all of her family soon make the step that she made into the waters of baptism.  Another great person that was baptized this week was Lamont Robinson.  He is so amazing.  We tracked into him almost a month ago and he was prepared right from the beginning.  He had said that he had seen missionaries walk around all the time and that he knew that he needed to talk to them but he didn't know why.  Then when he saw us knocking on his door he knew that it was time.  We taught him and he was so excited to be baptized this week.  It was such a blessing to see the change that occurred as he has accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ into his life.  There is nothing better than to see how much the Lord loves his children in this work.  He is constantly wanting to bless his children with the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I love this work so much it is such a great blessing.  Elder Fuhriman and I have been so blessed these past couple of weeks as we have been able to find so many people prepared to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ it has been amazing.

This past week was a blessing for me in my studies.  I was able to come to a great knowledge and understanding of what it means to be a child of God.  It is absolutely amazing to think about this concept.  When you think about it the most all powerful and perfect being is your father.  He created  you and you have the ability to become like him.  That is so amazing.  We are truly children of our Heavenly Father.  I know that this church is true.  I know that when we understand that we are Children of God anything becomes possible to us.  We no longer have to be captive to Satan and his passions but we can push aside all sin and become triumphant over him.  I know that it is only through the Enabling power of the Atonement that we can do this that because our Heavenly Father loves us he sent his son so that we can become like him. I know all these things to be true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.  I love you so much and hope that you have a great week.  Thank you so much for all that you do for me.  I love you with all my heart and I send all my love from Virginia.
